It should be the human's moral baseline... not just to BE vegan but to advocate for veganism and to explain why it is better to be vegan, to "make" vegans.
It is also important to be healthy. When the founder of The Vegan Society, Donald Watson, was explaining veganism people thought he would die if he didn't eat animals. He was determined to lead by example and show how healthy he was on it. It is a testament to the efficiency of the Milk Marketing Board's propaganda that, even in the 1940's when he went vegan, many people thought he would die if he didn't drink cows milk and/or eat animals! He was an active man and a keen gardener for most of his 95 years!
If every vegan "makes"/"converts" one person to become vegan each year then, within eight years, we'd have a vegan world...
As of 2016 there are said to be approximately 42 million vegans in the world. These figures probably include a few million from the Indian Hindu lacto-vegetarian community.
So, double that each year...

Mic the Vegan's May 2018 research, as detailed in his "How Many Vegan's Are They Really" video on his YouTube channel, arrived at a number of 15 million.
With his figures it would take between nine and ten years by doubling. At the end of year one = 30 million, 60, 120, 240, 480, 960, 1920, 3840, 7680 with 15,360,000,000 at the end of the tenth year - way more than the projected human population in ten years!
There are nearly 8 billion people living in the world.
So, although hypothetical both projections allows for 8 years of growth in human population!

More animals are killed for food in five days than all the humans in conflict throughout the whole of history.
The breeding of animals for food and the consequent lack of shared resources is the biggest problem facing the planet.
Approximately 160 billion animals are slaughtered for food each year! Many of these are fed to other animals before they enter the human "food" chain. Feeding farm animals is about 30 times less resourceful than feeding humans directly.
Without feeding all those animals there would be more than enough food for humans.
